So I got the incredible opportunity to work on a unique project. An acquaintance of mine decided he wanted to help out a homeless family buy letting them live for free in a fully furnished home for at least 6 months with a car to drive until they can get on their feet. When they get a home of their own they get to take all the furniture with them and the car! I got to go in and "stage" the home bringing in art and accessories and furniture placement. The neat thing about this story is the family who ended up getting to live there. They are a family of 5, mom, dad, 2 boys and a girl from a country called Buton. I had no idea this country existed, but it is a strict Buddhist country and this family is christian. They were "illegally" celebrating Christmas and got caught. The moms father was beaten within inches of his life. They all ended up in refugee camps and the moms parents are still there. Somehow this family made it to Utah and were just about to be homeless when this opportunity came about. So I went to the home the day the family "came home" and it was probably one of the most spiritual experiences I've had ever! I almost started bawling un controllable when the mom did during her news interview. All I can say is that this family must be so special and they helped my realize how grateful I am for the incredibly rich life that I live. So if your feeling sorry for yourself think of things this family has had to go through and remember that you have so much including the freedom to practice whatever religion you believe in! I only hope that one day I will be as strong and have such faith to be willing to risk everything for my beliefs.
